The Story
An 8m x 3m Elsewhere Pod office set amid a lush tropical campus in Darwin, NT.
Tucked into a leafy outdoor breakout space on a Darwin commercial campus, this 8m x 3m Elsewhere Pod serves as a tranquil executive office for the company’s CFO. Surrounded by a lush garden landscape, the pod allows work to feel connected to nature – a hallmark of Elsewhere’s design ethos of delivering comfort and luxury while maintaining a strong connection to the surroundings. Full-height glass walls blur the line between indoors and outdoors, flooding the office with natural light and views of tropical greenery. Despite its proximity to the main building, the standalone studio creates a private, relaxing workspace where productivity and serenity go hand-in-hand.
Inside the pod: a versatile layout with a boardroom table, lounge, and full-height windows overlooking the garden.
Purpose-Built for Productivity – Inside, the pod is fitted out to meet every need of a modern executive. Within its 24 m² footprint, there’s a dedicated work desk and storage, a comfortable lounge area for informal meetings, and a boardroom conference table for formal meetings with the team. A wall-mounted screen and conference facilities transform the space into a mini meeting hub for presentations and video calls. The interior finish – from the sleek flooring to the warm timber-look wall panels – creates an inviting atmosphere that balances professional polish with comfort. Thanks to the floor-to-ceiling glass and garden views, the CFO and colleagues can enjoy an open, airy ambiance even during long work sessions, making the pod feel far more spacious and connected than its size suggests.
Construction & Performance Highlights
-
Quality Materials & Insulation: Built with a sturdy titanium-magnesium alloy frame and high-performance insulated panels, the pod’s sandwich construction ensures durability and comfort in Darwin’s climate. The premium materials not only look sleek in matte black and cedar tones, but also provide excellent thermal insulation to keep the interior cool.
-
Floor-to-Ceiling Glazing: The full-height windows are made of double-glazed, Low-E glass, which invites abundant natural light while blocking heat and reducing noise. This means the office stays quiet and energy-efficient, even under the tropical sun, with clear views out to the surrounding greenery.
-
Climate Control: An integrated air-conditioning and ventilation system comes standard with the 8m pod, maintaining a comfortable indoor environment year-round. The combination of effective insulation and efficient cooling keeps the space comfortable during Darwin’s hot, humid summers without excessive energy use.
-
Fast & Flexible Installation: The prefabricated modular design was delivered and installed on-site in under a week with minimal disruption to the campus. No council permits were required – as a temporary structure on commercially zoned land, the pod bypassed traditional approval processes and simply sits within the existing campus garden. This made it a fast, low-cost, high-quality solution, showcasing the pod’s versatility as a fully functional office space that can be deployed with ease.
